Before being modified into the Lupus, the Barbatos' refurbishments were based on old data from the Calamity War era to replicate its original appearance at the time of the Calamity War. However, following the intense battle at Edmonton, the Barbatos and Mikazuki continued to stand on the frontlines of Tekkadan, accumulating damage to the point where Tekkadan was unable to repair it. Therefore, it was overhauled at Saisei's MS workshop and received upgrades to its reaction speeds and maneuverability based on Mikazuki's combat data.
Rather than simply repairing it to its original form, adjustments were made to the Alaya-Vijnana system to bring the mobile suit's movements closer to its pilot's senses. Its weapon loadout was also renewed to match Mikazuki's close quarters combat style. Furthermore, the Alaya-Vijnana connector cable that links the pilot to the mobile suit was changed to specifications that enabled it to extend outside the cockpit to assist Mikazuki, whose right arm was paralyzed. The โLupus" in its name means wolf, and it was named by Saisei's chief maintenance officer, who is in charge of mobile suit maintenance.
Zack Lowe's analysis revealed that the Gundam Frames have two types of limiters: one that regulates the output of the Gundam Frame and another that regulates the feedback from the mobile suit to the pilot connected by the Alaya-Vijnana System. The Gundam Frames were originally designed to utilize their abilities against mobile armors, but the pilot protection system interfered and slowed down their performance. Mikazuki took on the entire burden on his body to draw out the Barbatos' true potential. Through such sacrifices, he was finally able to fight a Mobile Armor on equal terms.
After countless battles, the Gundam Barbatos receives further upgrades.
Only 72 Gundam Frames were developed when the Calamity War came to a close approximately 300 years ago. Their most unique feature is the adoption of two Ahab Reactors. Since they cannot be manufactured using modern technology, all operational units were developed during the Calamity War.
The Barbatos is one of those rare units, and it has received multiple repairs after being damaged in fierce battles ever since Mikazuki Augus became its pilot. After it was repaired into the Lupus, adjustments were made to further match the machine's movements to Mikazuki's senses, and the arms, including its frame, were extended.
BACKPACK
Sub arms are attached to the sides of the backpack thrusters. Mikazuki uses them to exchange weapons and also as a means of attack.
WAIST THRUSTERS
A small thruster capable of Instantaneous bursts was Implemented at Mikazuki's request. The amount of propellant that could be carried left much to be desired, but Mikazuki didn't seem to find it a problem.
ARMS & LEGS
In accordance with the extended arm frame, the manipulators were changed to those that could also be used as weapons. The leg suspensions also became standard equipment to enhance mobility.
Weaponry
SWORD MACE
This weapon was developed by Teiwaz engineers with the aim of combining mobility and offensive power.
200mm ARM GUN
The barrels slide on rails to absorb recall when the weapons are fired.
TWIN MACE
These are smaller maces for use in combat against groups or in tight spaces.
