A highly versatile machine created by the Earth Federation Forces as part of the RX Project mobile suit development plan, which was absorbed into Operation V.
This prototype was designed to operate together with the medium-range bombardment type Guncannon and the artillery support type Guntank, and it uses a Core Block System which allows its cockpit to separate and become an independent core Fighter. As well as head vulcans and beam sabers, its standard armament also includes a beam rifle, which the Principality of Zeon forces had been unable to implement even though they were the first to successfully develop and deploy mobile suits.
As the Federation Forces' trump card, it underwent final testing at Side 7 alongside the mothership Pegasus, only to be captured by Char Aznable of the Principality forces. It then became Char's personal machine, and he used it to destroy an RX-78-01 01 Gundam that the Federation Forces dispatched in pursuit. The Principality forces made further modifications, adding weapons and changing its coloring, and went on to use it as the βRed Gundam."
Beam Rifle
A beam weapon that the Federation Forces successfully miniaturized and turned into standard equipment before the Principality forces. It can fire high-output beams powerful enough to destroy a mobile suit with a single direct hit. It can also perform precision firing with a targeting sight.
Head Vulcan
Projectile weapons installed in the sides of the head. These are designed to fire shells through multiple rotating barrels, giving them excellent rapid-fire capabilities. Cartridge cases are ejected as shells are fired.
Hyper Bazooka
A long cannon which was prepared as an option, like the hammer. As well as bombarding fortresses from long range, this can also be used for anti-ship and anti-mobile suit combat. It only carries a few rounds, and after these are fired, the entire weapon is discarded to prevent it becoming dead weight.
Shield
A large shield that can cover the entire chest. Intended for battle against other mobile suits, it shows high defensive performance against medium-range fire and in melee combat. A cross mark is inscribed on the front of the shield.
Beam Saber
Two of these high-output beam weapons are mounted on the backpack. These are mounted so that the grips protrude from the shoulders, making it possible to swiftly draw them with the manipulators for use.
