After the One Year War, the space colonies of Side 6, worried about the growing arrogance of the Principality of Zeon, reorganized their coast guard into a military police. Under the pretext of maintaining public security and strengthening their defensive capabilities, they went on to deploy mobile suit forces.
The mobile suit forces were named โArmored Riot Police" adopting the MS-06-SSP Police Zaku. This is based on the MS-06 Zaku, a general-purpose mobile suit used by the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War, which was the first formally adopted type of the Universal Century.
Though its basic structure has not substantially changed, armor and a shield have been added to its waist and arms. It is also equipped with an electric baton and a sasumata for guarding and capture operations. The revolving emergency lights on its shoulders are activated during emergency mobilization, alerting those around to danger, and the characters for "police" are written on its shield In addition to the standard version, there is also an MS-06-SSPEX Armored RRU Type equipped with an advanced zaku machine gun and a high-mobility booster. Among the citizens of Side 6, there is criticism and discontent that its fighting strength is excessive for maintaining public order.
Weaponry
Zaku Machine Gun
A rapid fire projectile weapon that was equipped by Principailty of Zeon Forcesโ MS-06 Zaku. After the war, Side 6 Military Police bought dozen of released surplus from the Zeon Forces.
Revolving Emergency Lights
Devices mounted on the standard type's shoulders. These are meant to alert those around to external enemies and emergency situations, and the light-emitting parts inside them revolve when in use, accompanied by a warning siren.
Electric Baton & Shield
A close combat weapon for riot control, which is part of the standard equipment. It is designed so that the striking section extends when in use, it gives an electronic shock to objects that it touches. The rest of the time, the grip is mounted on the inside of the shield attached to the left arm.
