Stay ahead of the game, with the Gunpla Releases List

In 2023, I created the Gunpla New Releases Board in Trello — to help keep tabs on all upcoming Gunpla (Gundam Plastic Model Kits). I don’t have access to its high-level stats any longer, but last I checked, over 🥳 500 people were using it to help plan their purchases.

The latest incarnation has been freed from its Trello chains, and is now a simple page on this site. Check it out, if you haven’t done so already!

📋 Page layout

The cards on the page are currently organized in the following order:

  1. Upcoming: Current month

  2. Upcoming: Remaining months of the current year

  3. Upcoming: Subsequent year

  4. Archival: From January 2025. I may add additional archival years in the next iteration of the list.

📷 Product image

Each card features a Gunpla in a standing pose (where possible), to allow for easy scanning & comparison. P-Bandai listings typically combine the front & back poses within a single image, so I rework those to feature the front angle only. For general retail kits, CG renders are usually provided up until release week, at which point final photos are switched in. P-Bandai kits usually feature final photos when first listed.

✍️ Card title

Usually the name of the mobile suit (i.e. mech), or character — as you’d probably expect! In the case that only Japanese-language names are available, I attempt a direct transliteration until an official English-language name is provided.

🛠️ Product line / scale

Gunpla are usually divided into various grades based on complexity (e.g. High Grade, Master Grade), and scale (e.g. 1/144, 1/100). SD Gundam kits are grouped typically by design style. I also include Gunpla-adjacent model kits, such as Figure-rise Standard — when relevant to the Gundam franchise.

💬 Media property

Where the Gunpla design originates. Whilst most often an animated Gundam show, it could also be a side-project, manga, video game, event or brand-collaboration.

💸 ¥RRP

The original Japanese Yen price for now. I’m looking into the feasibility of adding USD & other currencies within the next iteration.

🛍️ Retail availability

Each year, new Gunpla releases are split relatively evenly between general retail and exclusive channels.

⏰ Japan release date

When a kit is announced, we’ll typically be given its release month. The final release date is usually confirmed within the second half of the release’s preceding month. P-Bandai only shares release month publicly, with no specific dates listed. Kits teased early (such as at the Shizuoka Hobby Show) may not have a release window — I keep tabs of these in a TBD section. Please note that international release dates can range from 1–2 months after the Japanese release.

🔗 Official product page link

A link out to the official page for a given kit once live. Currently Japanese site links only.

🌈 Moving forward

I’m already planning an improved version of this list, with extra functionality such as tags, filtering, archival product images, international official links, and more. But for now, please enjoy it in its current form — add it to your bookmarks, and hope it continues to be helpful.
