CD Review — Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX Original Soundtrack
On August 27th 2025 — 2 months after the show wrapped — the GQuuuuuuX Original Soundtrack arrived in both physical & digital formats. Composed by Yoshimasa Terui & Masayuki Hasuo, plus additional contributors.
💿 Standard Edition, 2x CD
💿 First-run Limited Edition, 3x CD
🎵 Digital, including Hi-Res Lossless
Today let’s take a closer look at the First-run Limited Edition CD set.
📓 Slipcase
The album comes in the size of a double jewel case. The slipcase is immediately arresting, with its punchy green and white tones reminiscent of the show’s opening sequence. The grungy logo texture also fits with its in-show presentation — most obviously evoking Shuji’s graffiti, but also the trio’s youthful drive.
Extra product design details are lost in its digital versions, and worth highlighting. Look a little closely and you’ll notice multiple Spot UV treatments applied. The logo itself is lifted with a high-gloss. Various textures dress the full surface of the slipcase.
Additional images of the slipcase from various angles.
💿 CD housing
Neatly positioned within the slipcase is the double-fold CD housing. Its outer face designed with a stark but explosive black & white pattern, with some green splashes thrown in for good measure. The stars of course are all very kira-kira.
Opening the double-fold reveals this edition’s 3 discs. Each CD looks similar at a glance, but on closer inspection, they have different background compositions.
📖 Booklet
The last item featured in this set is the booklet. Reasonably thick, with a good paper stock. Its complex, striking design aligns with the rest of the package.
The full track list is spread over 2 CDs. Whilst there’s some overlap with the digital samplers that released whilst the show was airing, a substantial amount of material is exclusive to this full release. What differentiates this First-run Limited Edition to the standard and digital/streaming editions is an additional 3rd CD — which includes 7 tracks that didn’t make the show’s final edit. I might post specifically about these, if there’s an appetite for it!
A long interview forms the bulk of the booklet. I love this, and it reminds me a little of the SquareSoft CD booklets in the late 90s.
After a few additional spreads of track lyrics, the booklet wraps up with credits. Presentation is on the minimal side — though tidily done. Don’t expect character artwork, or artist photography here (it would’ve been nice to have one photo, I must say).
A couple of extra pics of the album, to close things out!

💬 Video liner notes
As an extra treat, Sunrise Music has shared track breakdown videos with both Yoshimasa Terui & Masayuki Hasuo. I’m yet to watch them, but they seem excellent - essentially liner notes+. Even the unused tracks from this limited edition’s Disc 3 are discussed within the third video. Japanese-language only currently.
