🗞️ This Week in Gundam
I’ll be trialing weekly Gundam news summaries, in place of daily.
‘Today in Gundam’ will switch out, in favor of ‘This Week in Gundam’ — which I’ll aim to post at 11pm JST on Sundays, for the remainder of this month.
Reasons being that more formalized daily updates are actually quite a time-sink, plus they haven’t received so much love compared to some other posts. Apologies if you’re enjoying the daily cadence. I’ll land on a format to stick with after this exploration.
🔬 Gundam SEED SD vs HD Remaster Comparison
Starting this week! The first few posts may feel familiar, as they’ll be ‘Remasters’ of my Bluesky threads. After which I’ll move onto subsequent episodes, where the analysis will be all-new.
If you haven’t checked out the intro post, I’d recommend reading that first.
📚 Gundam Credits Archive
This one needs a little more time in the oven. Specifically, I have credits for a few Gundam Wing episodes ready to go, but it’s not as interactive as I’d like. The vision being that you can click on any contributor, and find out which episode, or shows, they worked on in the franchise. Currently the info is quite siloed — whilst interesting, it isn’t as informative as it could be. I’d rather solve this framework before committing hours to information sourcing and data entry! More to come as I figure this out.
🎯 New Ko-Fi Goals
Thanks to generous contributions, the Gundam Wing Operation Reunion Dinner in December is locked down! Two upcoming goals are on the way:
Goal 1: LaserDisc Player (live imminently)
A used player in reasonable condition — they’ve been out of production for 25 years! — would unlock comprehensive comparisons for Gundam show and movie transfers from First Gundam through to Turn A. How do the DVD, HD, and even 4K, masters compare to what was the premium format up until that stage? I have all the other kit required to capture this analog format, and will self-fund the discs themselves over time.
Goal 2: BCHPDII Museum Report
Bandai’s brand new Gunpla and Plamo Museum has just opened in Shizuoka, and entry is currently limited to Japanese residents who hold a P-Bandai account. This would unlock a day’s transport and entry, for me to visit and share a full photo report with comprehensive impressions (probably split out into multiple parts, as there’s a lot to see).
New ideas for ‘Extra’ things are always welcomed. Please ping me on Bluesky if anything comes to mind!
