Gaianotes Paints Pick n’ Mix

Today I’ve been sifting through paint sample cards, in advance of airbrushing my HG Gundam Zirius kit — from the ‘Mobile Suit Gundam Eight’ Manga. I think all’s set, but I might switch in the ol’ trusty NAZCA Dark Blue-ish Purple… we’ll see!

I’ve been looking into blue tones a lot lately. The Gaianotes Railroad 1003 Blue No.15 might be an excellent fit for the MG Narrative Gundam Ver.Ka, since I’m yet to finish that up. The Dougram CB-15 Cobalt Blue — shown lower down this page — might also be my favorite ‘classic blue’ to date.

Here’s a spread of color swatch cards I’ve prepped over the last few weeks. All Gaianotes. The base primer color is noted at the bottom of each card. Most cards have Ex-10 Flat Clear Premium topcoat applied, apart from the metallics, which have Ex-03 Gloss. I have a bottle of the new DP-02 Clear for Metallic on the way, so will probably test that with the Gundam Zirius (the metallics don’t look so good in the photos here, but are fantastic irl). The cards themselves are HIQPARTS Color Chips - their DP Bottles are also my go-to, they’re awesome.
