Colonies Liberation Organization Mobile Suit
The XXXG-00W0 Wing Gundam Zero was built by five engineers who also worked on the OZ-00MS Tallgeese. Around A.C. 175, the Tallgeese, also known as the Prototype Leo, became the foundation for major mobile suit development.
However, the engineers who developed it left OZ and aimed to create something even more advanced. They used new materials like Gundanium alloy and cutting-edge technology that was unthinkable for the time to design a mobile suit.
They named the mobile suit βGundam" based on the material used. It was meant to be a high-performance machine with the ability to transform into Neo-Bird mode and fire the powerful Twin Buster Rifle. It was also equipped with the Zero System, a battle prediction system designed to ensure total victory.
While this powerful system was groundbreaking, it put a huge strain on the pilot. Worried about how dangerous it could be in battle, and unable to get the parts they needed, the engineers abandoned the project and sealed away the plans. Later, they each went into hiding in different colonies and built their own versions of Gundams based on the Wing Gundam Zero's design. The sealed Wing Gundam Zero was finally completed in A.C. 195 by Quatre Raberba Winner, a Gundam pilot involved in Operation Meteor.
Neo-Bird Mode
The Wing Gundam Zero's flight form, used as its high-speed cruising mode. Neo-Bird mode allows for faster movement and covers longer distances than in mobile suit mode. In theory, it could even be used as a large fighter jet for hit-and-run attacks. It's built to fly both in and out of the atmosphere and can re-enter the atmosphere without any extra equipment.
This gives the suit a lot of versatility. The transformation system was later passed down to the XXXG-01W Wing Gundam.
WEAPONS
Twin Buster Rifle
The Wing Gundam Zero's main weapon, a double beam rifle made by combining two Buster Rifles. Its unique shape stands out, and its power is more than twice that of the original Buster Rifle used by the Wing Gundam. When fully charged, it could even destroy a resource satellite in one shot. Sometimes the rifles were split and used in both hands, allowing the pilot to spin and attack enemies all around him. Since the rifle draws energy directly from the mobile suit, it doesn't have the shot limit that the Wing Gundam's cartridge-based Buster Rifle had. It can also fire rapid shots. In Neo-Bird Mode, the two rifles separate and attach to either side of the shield.
Machine Cannons
Large autocannons mounted on both sides of the upper torso. Mainly used as support weapons for close to mid-range combat, but strong enough to take out small groups of mobile suits such as Leos on their own. Normally, they're hidden under covers that open up only when the cannons are being used.
Beam Sabers
Close-range weapons with energy blades. Thanks to the machine's high power, they can easily cut through even Gundanium alloy armor. When not in use, they're stored inside the shoulders. During battle, the shoulder panels open up and the saber handles pop out, ready to grab.
Shield
The shield is made of Gundanium alloy and forms the nose of the machine in Neo-Bird Mode. It has a special beam-resistant coating, giving it strong defensive power. It also has two built-in Wing Vulcans and can extend or retract to be used as a striking weapon. This extending feature also works as part of the suit's cooling system.
