ORB United Emirates Mobile Suit
The ORB-01 Akatsuki Gundam is an MS (Mobile Suit) developed by Morgenroete, Inc. as the flagship machine of the Orb Union. Its most notable feature is its golden color scheme derived from Yata-no-Kagami, a special type of armor. It is said that the development of the Akatsuki Gundam began at the same time as the first generation GAT-X series, but its plans were frozen once a prototype unit was completed due to rising production costs.
Its armaments were completed after the Mobile Suit's development plan was frozen, and the MS itself was completed with a degree of perfection that made it capable of undergoing actual combat during the Second Alliance-PLANT War. It was allegedly developed by Uzumi Nara Athha as a machine for Cagalli Yula Athha, and it appeared on the battlefield as her MS while fully utilizing its features as Orb's flagship unit.
Weaponry
M2M5D 12.5mm automatic CIWS
These are close-in defense firearms built into the head. Although they fire rounds with significantly smaller calibers compared to the Igelsteilung installed in M1 Astrays, the drop in power has only been roughly halved thanks to the improvements made in bullet cores and propellants.
Type 72D5 beam rifle βHyakurai"
This is the Akatsuki Gundam's main weapon. It is a portable firearm that is considered a standard armament alongside the beam saber and 12.5mm automatic CIWS. It is a high-powered weapon with excellent rapid-firing capabilities and is especially effective in medium to long-range combat. It could also be used as a bayonet by mounting the beam saber under the barrel.
Type 71 prototype defensive shield
This is a defensive equipment made with armor plates that primarily defend the MS against missiles and other physical projectile weapons, but it also has a certain level of defensive capabilities that work against beam weapons thanks to the Yata-no-Kagami applied to the outer edges. It could also be used in close combat situations by striking targets with its sharp tip.
73J2 prototype twin beam saber
This is a melee weapon for close combat which is said to have been developed after the Akatsuki Gundam's development plan was frozen. It is normally used by generating beam blades from both ends of the two connected grips, but it can also be dual-wielded by separating the grips. It is attached to the left side of the waist in its combined state when not in use.
Yata-no-Kagami / OOWASHI unit
Anti-beam defensive reflection system βYata-no-Kagamiβ
This is a type of special armor applied all over the Akatsuki Gundam's body and Oowashi. It is often referred to as an anti-beam defensive reflection system that consists of nanoscale beam diffraction gratings and ultrafine plasma criticality control layers. This not only defends the MS from beam weapons, but also can reflect beams back at targets that are automatically tracked by sensors. It boasts absolute defensive power against beams, and was even able to withstand a direct hit from a positron cannon. On the other hand, its production and maintenance costs are astronomical, and it is said that twenty M1 Astrays can be manufactured for the cost of applying Yata-no-Kagami to a single MS.
Atmospheric Aerial Combat Equipment OOWASHI
This is a flight unit intended for use within the atmosphere that consists of two large and small wings. Propulsion devices are focused on the rear section, enabling acceleration to subsonic speeds. It can be said that this equipment allows the Akatsuki Gundam to operate with a high degree of maneuverability within the atmosphere. When detached from the Akatsuki, it takes the form of a fighter jet, and can be controlled remotely or operate autonomously using an Al. It is armed with Type 73F Kai high-energy beam cannons on the left and right sides of the lower section of the fuselage, while the entire unit is also applied with Yata-no-Kagami, resulting in high defensive capabilities.

These are two beam cannons that are mounted onto the Oowashi. When in use, they are deployed forward from under the armpits of the MS, the barrels are extended, and the grips pop up. Although they have a limited field of fire, they are the most powerful weapons among the firearms equipped by the Akatsuki Gundam. Much like the Oowashi, the barrels are also coated with Yata-no-Kagami.
