This unit is a revised version of the GAT-X103 Buster Gundam, which was slated to be scrapped. It was secretly procured for modification by Eileen Canaver, a member of the old Clyne Faction. The work was mainly performed by Yuri Amarfi on the space fortress Boaz, which was abandoned after the war. The unit's model number was changed to ZGMF with the revision. In addition, its energy source was swapped with nuclear power, and the cockpit was replaced with one from the Zaku series.
Like the Buster Gundam, this unit is equipped with an abundance of artillery weapons, such as the MA-X60S/D MBMPG, MMI-KX815 High-energy Beam Gun, and Type77 MPGML. It was equipped with a METEOR reinforcing unit for missions.
