The capture of the RX-78-02 White Gundam by Char Aznable had a huge impact on the mobile suit development of the Principality of Zeon forces. Though the MS-14 developed by the Zeonic company was the leading candidate for the next main mobile suit after the MS-06 Zaku, a new machine was developed based on data obtained trom analyzing (reverse-engineering) the White Gundam. Ultimately, the latter won the development competition and was adopted as the gMS-01 Gelgoog.
The Gelgoog is a mass production model which could be considered a simplified version of the Gundam. While it has excellent versatility, it is also designed to lower costs to make it more suitable for production. Its armament is intended mainly for close-to-medium-range-combat, and includes a beam saber and beam spray gun.
This machine was deployed in combat at the end of the One Year War, and even in U.C.0085 it remains in active the private sector, where they are used in service with the Principality forces. Some have also been diverted to the private sector, where they are used in Clan Battle by Shiiko Sugai, known as “the Witch,' and her teammate Bocata.
