Gundam Card Game — Pack Primer
The Gundam Card Game (GCG) has only been available for two months, but with so many sets already available 💦 it can be a little overwhelming at a glance. Here’s a mini primer for all box types announced so far!
Starter Deck
[ST]
The GCG launched with four separate starter decks: ST01, ST02, ST03 and ST04. They can either be more generally themed (see ‘Heroic Beginnings’), or specific to a show (Wing, SEED, IBO). The next starter decks are confirmed to feature GQuuuuuuX, Hathaway, 00 and SEED DESTINY.
Starter Deck Gundam Assemble Set
[ST — A]
The first four starter decks come in two flavors. Standard pack [ST], plus a larger ‘Assemble Set’ [ST — A]. The assemble sets each feature 3 minis for the upcoming Gundam Assemble game, which can also act as visual dressing for GCG (noting with round display bases, not Assemble’s hexagonal bases).
Premium Collection Gundam Assemble
[PC — A]
Coming in 2026, a new type of combination pack, featuring 3 Gundam Assemble minis, instructions, GCG alt-art cards and more. The first two sets will focus on Iron-Blooded Orphans, and GQuuuuuuX.
Booster Pack Set
[GD]
Booster packs featuring a mix of card types to help expand player options. The themes are quite general, but each set does focus on a defined selection of shows. GD01 features cards from First Gundam, Wing, SEED, Unicorn and Witch from Mercury. GD02 is set to feature cards from Z Gundam, X and AGE.
Premium Goods Set
[PB]
Mixed-media sets seemingly exclusive to P-Bandai, including cards, cases, playmat, and more. Only one set has been announced so far, with a Gundam Wing focus.
Accessories
[EVX]
These come in many forms, from card sleeves, dice, playmats and more. Some also include exclusive alt-art cards.
Bonus: Beta
[— β]
Released in 2024, the Edition Beta included a mixture of cards from various pack types. These can be easily identified by the β letter in the top-right corner. Some exclusive alt-art beta cards now demand extremely high prices on the aftermarket.
